Victoria acquires 1999-born netminder Hunter Arps & draft picks from Brandon in exchange for goaltender Dylan Myskiw.

Victoria, BC– The Victoria Royals are pleased to announce that the club has acquired goaltender Hunter Arps (1999), a fifth round pick in the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft and a conditional draft pick in 2020 from the Brandon Wheat Kings. In exchange the Royals have sent netminder Dylan Myskiw (1999) and a conditional 2018 seventh round draft pick to the Wheat Kings.

Hunter Arps

Arps spent the 2016-17 season with the Moose Jaw Generals of the Saskatchewan Midget Hockey League. In 25 regular season games with the Generals, Arps posted an 18-6-0 record with a 2.23 goals against average (GAA), a 0.913 save percentage (SV%) and four shutouts. The native of Pleasantdale, SK also took part in five post-season contests for the Generals where he recorded a 1.14 SV%, a .960 GAA, and one shutout over five games.

The 6-3, 160 lb netminder played in five games for the Melfort Mustangs of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) last season.

Arps was originally drafted by the Wheat Kings in Round 5, 109th overall, at the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft.

Dylan Myskiw

A native of Winnipeg, MB, Myskiw played in 17 games for the Royals during his single season in Victoria. Over those contests he registered a record of 3-5-2-0 to go along with a 3.26 GAA and a 0.886 SV%. Through two pre-season games this year, the 6-0, 170 lb netminder registered a 3.92 GAA and a 0.871 SV%.

Myskiw was drafted by the Royals in the sixth round, 112th overall, at the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft.

The Royals will conclude their pre-season this weekend when they face the Vancouver Giants and Prince George Cougars as part of the Giants’ Pre-Season Tournament. Victoria will take on Vancouver on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. and the Cougars at 12:00 p.m. Both contests are scheduled to take place at the Langley Events Centre.
