Victoria defeated 5-2 by Everett; playoff tickets for Games 3 & 4 on sale now.

Everett, WA- The Victoria Royals were toppled 5-2 by the Everett Silvertips on Saturday evening at the XFINITY Arena.

The Royals secured the second wild card spot in the Western Conference after tonight’s contest. The Silvertips meanwhile, clinched top spot in both the Western Conference and US Division. As a result, the two teams will face each other in the opening round of the 2017 WHL Playoffs.

Everett’s Cal Babych scored the game winner in the first period. Brandson Hein, Patrick Bajkov, Riley Sutter and Matt Fonteyne tallied the other markers.

Victoria forward’s Vladimir Bobylev and Ethan Price scored the markers for the away team in the final stanza.

Royals’ goaltender Dylan Myskiw got the nod in net and turned aside 28 out of the 33 shots he faced. Silvertips’ netminder Carter Hart stopped 25 of the 27 pucks fired his way.

Victoria posted a mark of 0/5=0.0%, while Everett went 3/6=50.0% on the man-advantage.

The Royals will kick off the 2017 WHL Playoffs in Everett with Game’s 1 and 2 on Friday, March 24th and Saturday, March 25th respectively. Victoria will then travel back home for Game’s 3 and 4 on Tuesday, March 28th and Wednesday, March 29th.
