Victoria, BC – The Victoria Royals scored two goals in both the second and third periods, and Phillip Schultz recorded his first career WHL hat-trick, in a 5-3 win over the Seattle Thunderbirds.

Home Finale: The Royals capped off their four-game homestand tonight against the Seattle Thunderbirds. The club improved to 5-2-0-0 in their final contest of a home stretch this season, and are now 4-0-0-0 in the finale of a homestand of four or more games.
Hat-tricks: Royals’ forward Phillip Schultz recorded his first career hat-trick in tonight’s game. The Royals have had two other three-goal performances this season. Tarun Fizer scored a trio of goals on December 11th in a 7-4 victory over the Portland Winterhawks, while former Royal Dante Hannoun scored four goals on December 28th in a 6-2 win over the Lethbridge Hurricanes.
Powerplay Prowess: In games this year in which the Royals have scored a powerplay goal, the club has posted a record of 17-6-0-1. Forward Kaid Oliver leads the way with 16 powerplay points (9g-7a) this season.
Three Apples a Day: Royals’ defenceman Scott Walford recorded a trio of assists in tonight’s contest against the Thunderbirds. This is the fourth time in his career that he has tallied three or more assists.
Today in History: Tonight, marked the third time since the Royals moved from Chilliwack that they have played on February 6th. The club has gone 3-0-0-0 in those games, with two of those wins coming against the Seattle Thunderbirds.
Up Next: The Royals will embark on a five-game road trip, beginning in the US Division against the Spokane Chiefs on Friday and the Tri-City Americans on Saturday. From there, they will move on to Kamloops on February 13th to face the Blazers and then to Prince George to play the Cougars on February 15th and 16th.
