ROYALS HOST OIL KINGS ON CANADIAN FORCES APPRECIATION NIGHT

Victoria battles Edmonton on Friday evening.

Victoria, BC- The Victoria Royals will face off against the Edmonton Oil Kings on Canadian Forces Appreciation Night this Friday at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre. Puck drop is slated for 7:05 p.m.

CANADA RUSSIA SERIES: Royals’ forward Matthew Phillips is returning to Victoria after taking part in the CIBC Canada Russia Series as a member of Team WHL. The Calgary Flames prospect tallied one goal through two games. The 1998-born skater leads the Royals in points, assists and sits third in WHL scoring with 35 points (15g-20a) over 19 contests.

SUPER SOY: Victoria veteran Tyler Soy (122g-136a) is six points away from tying the franchise record for most career points. The record is currently held by former Royal and Chilliwack Bruin Brandon Magee who recorded 264 points (103g-151a) in 318 WHL contests. Soy, the 1997-born forward is also riding a seven-game point streak where he has tallied 10 points (3g-7a).

FRIDAY – CANADIAN FORCES APPRECIATION NIGHT

Pre-Game:

The Naden Band of the Royal Canadian Navy will be performing O Canada.

A bomb disposal robot, called tEODor (Explosive Ordnance Robot), will deliver the puck for the ceremonial puck drop.

Military equipment and vehicles will be displayed around the concourse at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre throughout the game.

Ticketing:

Fans who show valid Military ID at the box office this week, or at the game, qualify for a discounted rate in corner, side or club seating.

Intermission Promos:

GoodLife Fitness Relay Race (second intermission)

Fans will compete in a relay race for a chance to win a three-month gym membership at GoodLife Fitness.

Jersey Auctions:

A selection of the Royals’ vintage style game worn jerseys, from Turn Back the Clock Night, will be available via silent auction throughout the contest. Donations raised from the silent auction will go towards the Victoria Royals Education & Scholarship Fund.
