Victoria, BC – The Victoria Royals scored three goals in both the first and third periods to edge the Kamloops Blazers 6-5 on Friday night as Tyler Soy became the all-time franchise assist leader with 152.

Notes:

Setting the Mark – In his 296th career WHL game, Royals’ forward Tyler Soy set the new all-time franchise record for most assists with 152. The previous record was held by former Royal and Chilliwack Bruin Brandon Magee, who totaled 151 helpers over his 318-game career.

Royal Firsts – Newcomers Tanner Kaspick, who recorded his first goal and assist as a Royal, and Lane Zablocki made their Victoria debuts. Both were acquired at the WHL Trade Deadline earlier this week from the Brandon Wheat Kings and Lethbridge Hurricanes respectively.

Red Hot – Royals’ forward Tyler Soy extended his point streak as he has tallied in 13 consecutive contests and has registered 20 points (8g-12a) during that span. Matthew Phillips (2g-6a) and Chaz Reddekopp (2g-4a) have both earned points in their last four games. Meanwhile, Jared Freadrich (2g-2a) has recorded points in his previous three contests.

Potent Powerplay – Registering a pair of goals on the man-advantage tonight, the Royals have scored a powerplay goal in three straight games and has gone 5/14=33.3%. Over the club’s last 10 games, Victoria has held a powerplay mark of 11/43=25.6%.
