ROYALS BURNT BY BLAZERS IN OVERTIME

Victoria drops a 4-3 overtime decision to Division leaders from Kamloops.

Kelowna, BC – The Victoria Royals were powered by a 48-save performance from 20-year-old netminder Adam Evanoff and two goals from 16-year-old rookie Brayden Schuurman, but the Island team came up short 4-3 in overtime versus the undefeated BC Division leading Kamloops Blazers.

First Goal Brought To You By The Name Bra(y)den – The Royals’ first goal of the night was scored by Brayden Schuurman with the assists going to Brayden Tracey and Braden Smith. It was the first point in the WHL for both Brayden Schuurman and Braden Smith, while for Brayden Tracey it was his fifth point of the season and his 149th of his career. Schuurman also scored the second goal of the night and the second of his career later in the first period.

Evanoff, But Adam On – Goaltender Adam Evanoff had a great night between the pipes for the Royals on Saturday night. The 20-year-old netminder stopped 48 of 52 shots including several highlight reel saves. On top of his play in the net, Evanoff also collected the second assist of his career on Brayden Schuurman’s second goal of the first period.

No Sin = No Bin – For only the second time since moving to the Island, Victoria did not have a power play attempt in tonight’s game. The only other time this occurred was on February 14, 2020 when the Royals hosted the Vancouver Giants. Victoria dropped the contest that night as well by a 5-2 score.
