Victoria, BC – The Victoria Royals were bested by the Medicine Hat Tigers 6-3 on Saturday night at Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.

Notes:

First Point: Victoria defenceman Carson Golder recorded his first WHL assist and point in tonight’s game.

Former Team: Royals forward Gary Haden recorded a goal in tonight’s contest against his former team. Haden played parts of four seasons (2015-16 to 2018-19) with the Tigers and collected 53 points (25g-28a) in 115 games.

Danish Connection: Royals forward Phillip Schultz and Tigers goaltender Mads Søgaard, along with forward Jonathan Brinkman, hail from Denmark. All three players played for Denmark’s Under-20 team at the 2019 World Junior Championships in Victoria and Vancouver, as well as the Under-18 team at the 2018 World Under-18 Championship Division 1 A tournament in Riga, Latvia.

Island Grown: The Tigers had a pair of Vancouver Island born players in their line-up in tonight’s game. Forward’s Tyler Preziuso (Victoria) and Corson Hopwo (Duncan) each found the scoresheet in the win.

Hat-Trick: Tigers forward James Hamblin recorded his first career hat-trick in tonight’s contest.

Up next: The Royals will begin a three game road trip on Wednesday, November 6th versus the Kelowna Rockets at 7:05 p.m. Victoria will then head to Prince George to face the Cougars on Friday, November 8th and Saturday, November 9th. Puck drop in Prince George is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
