During the game, fans will be able to bid on the jerseys which will be auctioned off to support Seniors Serving Seniors, a local organization celebrating 40 years of assisting seniors.
Seniors Serving Seniors is a non-profit volunteer organization celebrating their 40th year connecting volunteers with seniors in Victoria who need support. They offer three programs for seniors: Return to Health, Senior Link and the Services Directory (The Blue Book).
“We are grateful and excited to partner with Victoria Royals in celebrating “60’s night” and look forward to seeing you at our booth Wednesday, October 13 to learn more about us,” Executive Director Vicki Pilot said. “Covid-19 highlighted the gaps and needs of isolated and frail seniors in a way that many people may be unaware of. With funding from Island Health, United Way, Victoria Foundation and private donors and the dedicated commitment from our board and volunteers, Seniors Serving Seniors was able to assist hundreds of seniors over the past 18 months.”
“We’re thrilled to partner with Seniors Serving Seniors and to don our special theme night jerseys this Wednesday,” said GM and Head Coach Dan Price. “Both the Tuesday and Wednesday games vs Kamloops are shaping up to be classic BC Division rivalry games. These will be fast, physical contests, and are both ‘four-point games’ in the standings. We expect them to have a playoff feel even though it’s still early in the regular season.”
