Victoria Royals prospects Cole Reschny and Grant Reid are set to compete for their respective provinces at the 2023 Canada Winter Games, being held this month in Prince Edward Island.

Reschny, a native of Macklin, SK, will hit the ice for Team Saskatchewan, while Surrey, BC native Grant Reid will play for Team British Columbia at the tournament. Cole Reschny has also been named an Assistant Captain with Team Saskatchewan.

Both Reschny and Reid have made several appearances as Affiliate Players with the Royals this year and have enjoyed successful seasons with their respective minor hockey clubs.

Reschny was selected by Victoria with the number three-overall pick in the 2022 WHL Draft and has played in four games with the club, collecting his first career goal in his third game against the Prince George Cougars on Nov. 19, 2022.

The 17-year-old has recorded 65 points (23 goals, 42 assists) in 34 games with the Saskatoon Blazers at the U18 level this year.

Meanwhile, Grant Reid–a third round selection of the Royals in the 2022 draft–has put up 30 points (13 goals, 17 assists) in 30 games with Yale Academy U18 Prep this season and made his WHL debut for Victoria back on Nov. 18 against Prince George.

Reschny and his Team Saskatchewan teammates will begin the tournament with a matchup against Team New Brunswick on Sunday, Feb. 19, while Reid and Team BC will open with a contest against Team Ontario on the same day.
