ROYALS SIGN MATTHEW HODSON

Victoria inks 2018 WHL Bantam Draft selection.

Victoria, BC – The Victoria Royals are proud to announce that the club has signed 2003-born forward Matthew Hodson to a WHL Standard Player Agreement.

Hodson was drafted by the Royals in the third round, 52nd overall, in WHL Bantam Draft this past May.

“Matthew is a skilled forward who plays at a high pace. He has the tools to be a very good player in the WHL,” President and General Manager Cameron Hope said. “We are pleased to have Matthew as part of our future plans.”

The native of Saskatoon, SK spent last season with the Saskatoon Outlaws of the Saskatchewan Bantam AA Hockey League (SBAAHL). In 31 games with the Outlaws, Hodson registered 75 points (44g-31a) and finished with the second-most goals and points in the league. In seven playoff contests, Hodson tallied four goals and seven assists for a total of 11 points.

The 5-9, 142 lb centre was also called up by the Saskatoon Contacts of the Saskatchewan Midget Hockey League for seven games.
