ROYALS ANNOUNCE 2012 ROOKIE AND MAIN CAMP SCHEDULES

Victoria, BC – The Victoria Royals are pleased to announce the schedule for their upcoming 2012 Rookie and Main Camps to take place at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.

The four-day Rookie Camp begins August 23rd while Main Camp will start on August 27th. The Royals’ 2012 Training Camp will conclude on August 29th with the Intersquad Game as part of preparations for the 2012-13 WHL season. All on-ice camp sessions are open to the media and general public with free admission. For the Intersquad Game, scheduled for 7:05 p.m. on Wednesday, August 29th, admission will be by donation with proceeds going to local charities.

Rookie Camp will include 147 invited players born in 1996 or 1997 as well as Royals’ 2012 WHL Bantam Draft selections. Participants will be divided into eight teams, with scrimmages beginning Thursday, August 23rd and running through Sunday, August 26th. Scrimmages on August 23rd, 24th and 25th are scheduled from 8:00 a.m. to 10:15 p.m daily. Goaltender sessions will take place between 2:45 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. on these dates as well. The last day of Rookie Camp will see four final scrimmages between 8:00 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. on August 26th.

Main Camp will begin the morning of Monday, August 27th. The camp will consist of all returning roster players from the 2011-12 WHL season, invited players born between 1993 and 1995 as well as Draft and Rookie Camp participants progressing through to Main Camp. The camp will have three morning scrimmages taking place from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. followed by three evening scrimmages from 5:15 p.m. to 10:15 p.m. on August 27th and 28th. August 29th will mark the last day of Main Camp with final practices between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. followed by the Intersquad Game at 7:05 p.m. that evening.
